Administer Oxygen In An Emergency
PUAEME003 – Administer Oxygen In An Emergency will allow you to develop skills and knowledge and most importantly, confidence, to administer oxygen and ventilate the lungs in an emergency situation in accordance with industry standards and regulatory body guidelines. It includes assessing casualty and developing a management plan, checking, recovering and restoring equipment, maintaining an unobstructed airway, resuscitating casualty and using oxygen to provide therapy.
This course has no licensing, legislative or certification requirements at the time of publication.

Course Duration (face to face)
- Face to Face – 6 hours (minimum) – full face to face course
Refresher training – 6 hours (minimum) – conditions apply for this option, for example, you will need to provide previous current certificates
Work Placement Arrangements
No work placement will be required as part of this course.

Assessment Requirements
Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks. These are detailed in the sections following.
Entry Requirements
Participants must have already obtained the pre-requisite unit of PUAEME001 Provide emergency care.
Evidence of your statement of attainment must be provided.
Certificate Renewal Requirements
Certificates will require renewal after 12 months
What happens at the course?
Assessment Activities
Assessments conducted during face-to-face training session(s) include:
- Performance tasks and practical scenarios:
- Oxygen – Pre-use check procedures
- Provide oxygen therapy
- Administer oxygen on recovery
- Documentation
- Inspection checklist and Fault log
- Theory assessment –A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice and short answer questions. The student must complete all assessment questions.
