UETDRMP018 - Perform rescue from a live low voltage panel

UETDRMP018 - Perform rescue from a live low voltage panel unit involves the skills and knowledge required to perform a rescue from live low voltage (LV) electrical apparatus in an electricity supply industry (ESI) environment. This does not include overhead lines and underground cables.

It includes the organisational workplace requirements for the inspection and use of live LV panel rescue equipment, and how it applies to ESI workers to meet work health and safety (WHS)/occupational health and safety (OHS), mobility and mutual aid requirements.

Completing the UETDRMP018 - Perform rescue from a live low voltage panel course will provide an individual with the skills and knowledge to carry out and complete the LV panel rescue procedure and consists of real-life practical skills and knowledge to allow the participant to be assessed as competent in the rescue procedures from a LV apparatus.

Due to the high-risk nature of the industry, the program is regarded as a mandatory requirement for specific industries in which employees are required develop or maintain their professional skills.

UETDRMP018 - Perform rescue from a live low voltage panel

Low Voltage Rescue Training is a course specifically designed for those who work around electricity. It was created so that those who work in these kinds of industries have the capability to be able to rescue and help someone recover from receiving an electric shock.

UETDRMP018 - Perform rescue from a live low voltage panel course provides participants with the confidence and competence required to perform CPR on an unconscious casualty, in the context of those having suffered electrocution. This training course is designed for any person who may need to perform CPR during the course of their employment.

Participants in the UETDRMP018 - Perform rescue from a live low voltage panel course will use Low Voltage Rescue LVR kit. It contains 1000V insulating gloves, an ISOLATE HERE sign that can be hung near the main isolation point, insulated rescue crook, burns dressings and a torch, a fire blanket to put out any flames.

At the UETDRMP018 - Perform rescue from a live low voltage panel course before performing victim rescue on or near live exposed conductors, the rescuer shall consider all hazards and methods to control the hazards to ensure the rescue can be performed safely. Such controls may include de-energisation of the circuit, the use of insulated sticks and maintaining SAD during the rescue.

A safety observer shall be posted where, after a risk assessment, it is considered that a person, equipment or mobile plant might inadvertently infringe safe approach distances.

Safe approach distance—special is the minimum distance to an exposed conductor from any outstretched part of a person’s body or any conducting or unapproved object touching any part of the person’s body.

In emergency situations where there is likely risk of electric shock to persons from electrical conductors or electrical apparatus (e.g. fallen conductor), prompt action shall be taken to ensure people are kept well clear of the hazard in accordance with approved procedures.
All electrical apparatus shall be considered a live until proven isolated and earthed by approved means.
