PUAEME001 – Provide Emergency Care
PUAEME001 – Provide Emergency Care course applies to all public safety personnel who are required to provide initial lifesaving emergency care at an incident pending the arrival of appropriately qualified personnel. It includes ensuring the personal safety of carer and casualty, assessing casualty and identifying the need for emergency care, reassuring the casualty, and implementing emergency care procedures.
Students are taught to work cooperatively with personnel from other organisations, recover and restore first aid equipment and complete documentation. It is taught in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies at an incident. Please note, it is not designed for personnel whose primary response role is one of emergency care, first aid or pre-hospital care.

Participants must have the physical capacity to perform 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor.

Work Placement Arrangements
No work placement will be required as part of this course.

- Performance Tasks
- Severe bleeding and shock
Documentation – The student must complete an Incident Report Form.
Theory assessment – A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice and short answer questions. The student must complete all assessment questions.
